June 23 The Ginza show opens by Jim Hathaway

Yesterday I visited the gallery, remarkably narrow road. I had believed my studio alley was the narrowest street in Tokyo. I have been proven wrong.

One week from tomorrow I deliver and set up my paintings along with Yoonsaing San, my collaborator and fellow artist.

His paintings are larger than mine. I wonder how he will deliver them. as for me, I am already packed.

Soon Ginza goes on the wall by Jim Hathaway

2 Weeks until it is time to hang the Ginza exhibition, I’m already working on October frames. I’ve been lucky to have two exhibitions to paint for this year.

I made a Tick-Tock video of my frames drying on my messy studio floor. I like to make Tick-Tock videos. it is quick and I think that no one actually watches them, so there is very little pressure.

Frames for June by Jim Hathaway

The frames for the exhibition in June in the Ginza are done. Now it is just a matter of putting them together with the paintings.

There are many steps in the simplest of thing, layers of wood, paper, plaster, and paint. Mounting a painting, attaching it correctly and in the right place. I can understand why frames are expensive to order.

Ginza Exhibition in June by Jim Hathaway

I’ve started to pick out paintings for an exhibition in the Ginza with my friend and fine painter, Yoonsan Baik.

The new book by Jim Hathaway

My suprise pop up exhibition finished yesterday. It was fun and a surprise in a second way. My new book that Miyako helped me make sold well. It has paintings and essays from last October’s exhibition, Local Yanaka views and words in English and Japanese.

The new book is still availble, 1500 yen. There is a link to order on this web site.

Last years book is just about gone (from the October 2022 exhibition, Insignificant.)
